A. Yes. Trial judges conclude that 34 years of consistent hands-on practical experience and on-going education, clearly demonstrates the high degree of knowledge or skill necessary to qualify as an expert witness within the scopes of my expertise.

Q. What are the most common causes of boating accidents?

A. Carelessness - distraction - fatigue -lack of altertness and being unaware of all types of activity within one's proximity - failure to utilize common sense and sound judgement - insufficient operator competency -influences from alcohol and/or drugs - failure to wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device - overloading vessel - insufficient fuel for voyage - absence of sound signalling devices and proper safety equipment aboard watercraft

Q. Why would engineering firms consult you?

A. To provide assistance in areas with which they might be unfamiliar, such as establishing a vessel’s speed or identifying its various capabilities and handling characteristics, discerning questionable damage, and identifying onboard gasoline versus propane explosions and fires. Other contributions include consideration for effects of glare or reflection from dashboard illumination and confusion created by background lighting; calibrating distance over water; demonstrating effects of wind, wave, wake and propulsion turbulence; and describing how underwater topography influences water height and movement.
